Machine body

Fused in a single body of special cast iron, well dimensioned and reinforced internally with stiffened ribs. Its sturdiness and weight give maximum stability; the single-piece design gives long life and vibration-free work. The slides, one flat and one prismatic, are precisely dimensioned and ground so the table lies perfectly in working position.

Work head

Alloy steel spindle, hardened and ground, rotating on precision P4 class bearings. Belt drive without gearing gives silent transmission; speeds are changed by moving the belt, and a two-speed motor with change-over switch gives the desired speed. The spindle can be locked for centre-to-centre grinding or converted into a live spindle for chuck or collet work. The head stock base is graduated 0–45° either side for angular work.

Wheel head

A very rigid spindle running in a conical lead bronze bearing bush. The alloy steel spindle is specially heat treated and carefully lapped for high accuracy and a better Ra surface finish. A universal wheel head is available on request; the wheel head swivels 45° either side.

Tailstock

The quill runs in a precision pre-loaded antifriction sleeve under adjustable spring pressure, set by a knurled sleeve. A dresser block mounted on the quill makes wheel dressing easy.

Table swivelling

The table swivels on the right-hand side, with fine angular adjustment by a screw against a graduated scale.

Rapid approach (optional)

Hydro-mechanical feed for the wheel head slide. The wheel head comes into grinding position against a dead stop for precise positioning; rapid advance and retraction are hydraulic, with fine positioning by a precision feed screw.

Drop-down internal grinding attachment (optional)

An independent motor-driven attachment, fitted depending on component suitability. The spindle runs on a pair of imported, grease-packed, super-precision matched angular contact bearings at each end, driven by an endless flat belt for smooth running at high RPM.
